• Please try to stay active! You don't have to devote all your time to this club, but some activity would be appreciated. Activity encourages everyone to take part!

• No children, relatives, or friends of canon characters.

• You may not have a real sword as a new student. You will get one when you become a knight.

• All characters start out as new students.

• No killing, maiming, or serious injury to other characters.

• No one is to leave Skyloft at night. Your birds cannot see in the dark. Only a few knights have birds that are trained to see in the dark.

 • You cannot be a cross species. Rules about character races are available in the Character Creation and FAQ

• Art that includes characters that are not in the club will not be accepted unless they are your personal NPC's for the sake of your characters history/growth (done on a case by case basis) •

• We would prefer if you don't submit a lot of traced items or items made on a base, but if you do end up uploading something of this nature please make sure to CREDIT YOUR SOURCE. •

• This group does not accept AI generated images in any form. Commissioned or otherwise. •

About my Character

Questions about your character and what they can do, how they can look and what you can do to make them fit in? That's all in here.

Can my character have ties to the canon characters from the game?

No. We prefer that you don't have any character that is in anyway related to them. IE: No children of Groose, Zelda, or Link. No distant cousins or siblings.

What Races are available for me to use?

Currently you can be a Skyloftian, Hylian, Gerudo, Rito, Goron or Zora.

What do the races look like?

They must match the designs used in Breath of the Wild.

Can my character be disabled?

We have characters with varying disabilities, from missing limbs to mental illness. As long as your character is physically able to do their job as a knight. This includes being able to fight, fly and study. Be realistic.

Characters that are entirely blind, deaf, or paraplegic may not be suited for this group.

How mentally ill can my character be?

You still have to be mentally and physically capable of performing your knightly duties. As long as it can be controlled by therapy, medication etc they are fine. but if you're a critical threat to yourself or others you'll be suspended for sick leave. It's also good to keep in mind what people in the group might be going through and to be as sensitive as possible. Make sure to research before doing something extreme.

So what if they are injured in battle?

Some injuries your character can pull back from. Be mindful that Skyloft doesn't have any sophisticated limb prosthesis, so if you lose a leg or both your arms you will be asked to retire from the academy.

So I can be a Gerudo or a Sheikah?

Gerudo yes, Sheikah no.

But there are Sheikah's in Breath of the Wild.

We know, but we are excluding them from this group.

What do we wear?

As a student starting out, you will be wearing your casual clothes on your character sheet. Once you achieve knighthood, you will be given a knight uniform.

Please try to keep your clothes in the style of Skyward Sword or Breath of the Wild. No jeans, hoodies etc.

What do the different coloured tunics mean?

The different colours of tunics represent the different knighthood rankings. As a knight-in-training you will rifle through four different tunic colours before you become a Field Knight. Colours are explained in the How to Join Journal.

How old can my student be?

They are over 15 but under 20 when then join. Your character will age as they progress so you will see older characters in the club but they didn't start out that way. Use your good judgement, please. Most people training to become knights are likely younger people, IE in their teens. We won't accept some guy in his thirties or forties who found his true calling for the fourth time.

Can my student have a pet?

Pet's are authorised on a case by case basis. 

While we have no automatic confirmations, for us to consider a pet it must be: About the size of a rabbit or standard sized cat. An animal from Breath of the Wild or Skyward Sword ONLY.

Your pets will be left in the dorm room, they cannot be let outside unattended. You are responsible for them and when you are on missions, the instructors will water and feed them. 

Be prepared for the possibility that we may tell you no. 

Pets cannot go on any kind of missions with you, side quest, homework or otherwise. They are not working animals. 

**Kikwi's, Mogma's, fairies and other creatures cannot be pets. They are sentient races who cannot be owned.

Can I recycle old characters for this club?

We would really prefer it if you didn't. If you absolutely MUST recycle an old character at least try to make them workable for the club. (New design etc)

Can my "new student" level character wield a sword or other bladed weapon, even if they're just borrowing it?

Simply, the answer is "NO." Unless it's an event or mission that specifically states that you're allowed to, your character is unable to wield them until they have the qualification of "freshman knight."

On the Character listing my image is outdated, link is wrong or character details incorrect. How do I get these amended

Note or comment and we shall update it within the next few days. We do not actively update images when people submit new character sheets, you must let us know.

Can my character be from a Knight Family?

Of course, Keep your families legacy realistic (IE no super amazing hero knights that everyone knows.) Your character cannot start out knowing all the knight skills though, no matter how many of their family are knights.

So this means I can't start in the group knowing how to use a sword and bow?

Your character is allowed to have played around or had an interest in weaponry but they cannot start the academy already being an expert.

My character is an outlaw and a trouble maker!

There are obviously trouble makers and criminals in skyloft, but they are minor and nothing serious. You cannot be a part of a 'gang' or a 'mafia'. You can however be a rouge child who occasionally gets into trouble.

This also applies for the surface races.

My character was sent to the academy as punishment.

The Academy is not a punishment. Students can leave or change their plans whenever they wish. Your character must want to be a knight to be here. Of course they may be pressured into it by family or relatives but the knights will not send a trouble maker to the academy as punishment.

My character is a girl/boy but wants to be a boy/girl, is this ok?

There is no sexism or social stereotypes in Skyloft. They do not discriminate against colour, gender or sexuality. These are not traits that are common in the civilians so the academy and skyloftians will not care. You can be or look like you want.

Can my character, or characters relations, be from the Surface?

Yes, but only if your character is a Rito, Goron, Hylian, Zora or Gerudo. These races cannot be from Skyloft though.

My character is a bully, is this ok?

Keep this to character interactions only. If you are RPing with someone and they feel uncomfortable then it is advised to find a new RP partner.

Can my character be in a relationship?

You are allowed to be in a consensual relationship but anything sexual (IE; anything more sexy then just kissing) is not allowed in the academy.Neither can you already have or raise children while you are still studying. You must complete the academy first.

Can my character smoke or drink?

Smoking and drinking is not allowed in the academy.

I'm going to put a fairy in a bottle!

Fairies DO exist in this world however they are extremely rare are are not just hanging around in the wild. You are certainly not allowed to put them in bottles.

Can be related / have relations with a NPC?

As a general rule, no. If you know the owner of the NPC send them a note to ask Students cannot have relations with tutors


I want to change this "---" in my already existing app. Can I?
Major changes are not allowed, but some minor changes are. Send the mods a note or send a message in discord #ask-a-mod chat. We will let you know since the changes depend on case by case.

Race Related

So my Rito has to ride a loftwing?

Yes, The air is too thin for a Rito to fly above the clouds, They will need them to travel between skyloftian islands too.

Can my character, or characters relations, be from the Surface?

Yes, but only if your character is a Rito, Goron, Hylian, Zora or Gerudo. These races cannot be from Skyloft though.

Does my character have to wear clothes?

All characters need to have clothes of some kind. In their home towns they can wear whatever is appropriate but they must be clothed In Skyloft and on missions.

What Races are available for me to use?

Currently you can be a Skyloftian, Hylian, Gerudo, Rito, Goron or Zora.

What do the races look like?

They must match the designs used in Breath of the Wild.

Can I be a Gerudo Man?

Gerudo Women only give birth to Female children. You can be born as Female and transition to male or Non-binary, but there are no DMAB Gerudo Men.

Gear and Weapons

What weapons can I have and what are the restrictions?

Can my "new student" level character wield a sword or other bladed weapon, even if they're just borrowing it?

Simply, the answer is "NO." Unless it's an event or mission that specifically states that you're allowed to, your character is unable to wield them until they have the qualification of "freshman knight."

At this moment you are not allowed to dual Wield weapons unless specified as a reward.

What is my main weapon?

Your main weapon is the weapon that sits in your main weapon slot on your character sheet. This will start off with a non-lethal weapon, when you get to Freshman level you will have access to extra weapon options. Freshman Knights also get a mandatory Side Arm Sword.

What if my main weapon IS my sword

You can leave your main weapon slot blank, however alternate swords will also be available so you can have a main sword weapon and a side hand sword. your side hand sword MUST be the standard one issued by the academy.

I want to be a mage!

There are no "mages" but you can be a knight with magic weapons. There are magic rods, books and rings at the moment. Each has it's own limitations and much like standard weapons, you need to know how to use them and choose your weapon wisely.

Can my character know magic?

People do not know magic, but can use magic items and learn how to control magic items to help them get better and learn to control more powerful magic items.

What is this inventory stuff?

Your inventory, much like the zelda games, is the stuff you can take with you on missions. Items that you don't use you can list in your character sheet description (you're essentially leaving them at home). You only have a certain amount of slots so you'll have to decide what you want to take.

Do I still get to keep my sword?

You will always have a sword, it is mandatory to take it with you as a secondary weapon.

What do I have to do to learn to use a new weapon?

Each weapon that requires training will need you to submit a deviation, or RP with a Mod, about how your character has learnt to use it. Once this has been learnt you can add the item to your main weapon slot for use.

So I have to buy a weapon I can't use?

Not always, you can always train to use it before you buy it. As long as you have a submission about it, you can use it.

Loftwings

We get a lot of questions about our feathered friends, check here for any bird related questions you may have.

What colour can my Loftwing be?

Here are the acceptable colours:

Pink (must be pink and not red)

Black

White/Gray/Silver

Teal

Blue

Purple

Brown

Green

Yellow

Orange (must be orange and not red)

Your loftwing cannot be RED (of any shade)

I am not from Skyloft, do I still get a Loftwing?

All races will get a loftwing when they enter the academy, regardless of where their homeland is.

Can my loftwing have spots / stripes?

No, Loftwings are a solid colour with accents in a secondary colour. There are examples in the gallery.

Who has loftwings? Only knights or everyone?

In this group every person who is born in skyloft gets a Loftwing when they grow up. Even if you don't see old Sally from the Bazaar flying around, she still has a loftwing just like you. Guests from the Surface get their own loftwing when they enrol at the academy.

Can Loftwings die?

Yes, they can be killed in battle but you will not get a replacement. If you lose your loftwing for whatever reason you will no longer be able to be a knight.

Can my student's loftwing have babies with another loftwing?

Unfortunately, no. They need to be able to perform their knightly duties!

Can I dye it's colour?

The colour of your loftwing can temporarily be changed via dye's and pigments but they will not last beyond a few hours, great for ceremonies and events.

Can I dress it up?

All loftwings will be trained to have a saddle and other riding equipment, some may like to have further adornments. Remember though, your loftwing has to be unhindered enough to be quick and nimble so large items of clothing are restricted for knights on duty.

Do loftwings get to wear armour?

Armour is too heavy and cumbersome for loftwings to wear while flying, most knights do not require their loftwings for battle. Armour is not provided for loftwings and it is recommended that you try to keep you loftwing safe from harm during aerial battles.

Why can't my loftwing fly at night?

Loftwings have terrible vision at night and cannot see. Most are too scared to fly at night and only the highest trained knights and most suitable loftwings are trained to be night watch Knights. When you become a Feild knight you will get night goggles for your Loftwing so you can fly at night.

Where does my loftwing go when I am not with it?

Most will go to their nests somewhere, others will go back to your home. It is up to you, but some think they have a life of their own when you are not calling on them for help.

How intelligent is a loftwing?

Think of them like a parrot or a dog. You can teach them things and they are clever at learning but they cannot speak or understand you any more then a horse. They will all have unique personalities but they cannot respond to your questions.

Can they fight?

They have talons and sharp beaks, but it is advised not to put them up against a octorok or bokoblin.

Can I have a relationship with my loftwing.

It makes me sad that I have to add this to the FAQ. No, you cannot have "relations" with your loftwing. This kind of behaviour will get you sent to jail and expelled.

Surface Related

We recently updated the group to include more areas, races and lore. Any common questions regarding this can be found in this section!

How do I get to the Surface?

Fly your loftwing above one of the cloud partings and drop through. Not for the faint of heart. Use your sailcloth to safely land in a designated town.

Can my loftwing come to the surface?

Some events will allow you to do this, but as a rule loftwings do not like being so far under the clouds.

How do I get off the surface.

You can use one of the statues to be thrown above the clouds or occasionally call your loftwing.

If I am from the surface do I still get a loftwing?

Yes, you get one when you are enrolled at the academy, along with a sailcloth.

What is the surface like?

The surface areas are inspired by Breath of the Wild. Not EXACTLY like BOTW but inspired by. So while things may aesthetically look the same some parts of the game will not be present.

Legacy Members

Legacy members are characters who were active before 1/1/2018 and confirmed attendance before the Activity check ended on 28/2/2018

Legacy members are in no way special or different from regular members this term is to separate people who joined before or after the group update in 2018, as of the 28/2/2018 all submissions (including legacy grace members) must update their apps to reflect the rules.

Where possible you must update your character to fit the new rules.

*NEW* I missed the activity check, am I still a legacy character?

You have until the 1st June to rejoin, you will need to resubmit your character and a join request. Your character WILL need to be updated to reflect the current rules, though you will keep your previous grats and rupees.

*NEW* I missed the activity check, do I still get a Legacy Character Voucher?

No, you lost this when you failed the activity check, you can buy a character voucher if you want one.

*NEW* What if I was a legacy member but want to join after 1/7/2018?

You cannot rejoin, you will need to resubmit your character as a brand new member starting from 0. Your character cannot have any information pertaining to their previous time at the academy, they are BRAND NEW.

*NEW*  I used to have a character in the group, can I use them as a NPC

Students cannot be NPCs, If your old character is not in the group anymore they have left the academy. You can use them as a side character in personal submissions but they cannot be a student.

*NEW*  My character used to know 'so and so' but they are no longer in the group.

You can keep your friendships with characters who are no longer in the group (unless they were banned) though they CANNOT be included in any submissions unless the owner has provided you with permission. They CANNOT be a student or knight in this submission.

The below information is only relevant until the grace period for rejoining ends on the 1st June 2018.

The new sheet reduces my hearts

We are aware of this, but you do gain equipment slots.

When I joined I didn't start with a sailcloth

They are now mandatory so you get one for free.

What if my main weapon IS my sword

You can leave your main weapon slot blank, however alternate swords will also be available so you can have a main sword weapon and a side hand sword. your side hand sword MUST be the standard one issued by the academy.

I started with a sailcloth as one of my 3 items, now i'm down one item! Can I have something else

Sorry, we won't be providing extra items for the sail cloth, but you do get a secondary character voucher to take advantage of the new set up.

If I only have my knight attire on my app, where do I put my casual clothes?

There will be a meme for your casual clothes.

Can I get rid of my current character to make a new one?

Yes, but you'll lose your character voucher as this is classed as part of your items.

How many characters can I now have?

The maximum for standard members is 2. Legacy members can have 3 (your original character, you can buy a second character voucher and you also have your free additional voucher.)

What about my great fairy gear?

These are exceptions, you can leave them as they are.

What happened to Member NPCs?

This has been removed, you can still submit your characters friends and family as extra art. Existing Member NPCs will be moved to Extra Art.

**DEFUNCT**

Any members, legacy or otherwise, that join after the 28/2/2018 MUST amend their characters to fit the new rules.

Part of my character no longer matches the rules.

As the rules of character requirements has changed any existing characters or loftiwngs will be fine to stay as they are.

However, if there is something that can be changed. Such as a weapon or clothing, these will be required to match the new rules, eg: Your knight uniform design / weapon design.

What time frame is this set in?

The premise of this group is set generations after the events of Skyward Sword but before BOTW

Is there a Royal Hyrulian Family?

No, Hyrule's various domains are ruled by the relevant leaders. Hyrule is currently run by the Cheiftan in Hyrule Ranch. There is no royal Hylian family.

Am I required to join discord?

It is not mandatory but all RP's and discussion tend to take place there so it is advised!

What is Lorule? (this is no longer active)

Lorule is an AU campaign ran much like Dungeons & Dragons, for more information check out the Lorule Journal

Can I use a instructor or other NPC in a RP?

No, Instructors are for admin use only.

Can I draw instructors in my sidequest or Mission.

Yes, you cannot do anything out of character for them though - please contact a mod if you need clarification on an instructors personality.

I have 2 characters, if I put them both in a side quest / event , do they both get the rewards?

No. Each side quest is designated to 1 character unless you collaborate. You cannot collaborate with yourself. You can use your second character in the side quest but you MUST designate which character is doing the quest. Only they will get the grat.

This persons character / loftwing breaks a rule.

Throw us a message so we can look into it, the group is pretty old now and if they joined before 1/1/2018 then this may be why they are an exception.

Do I have to be an artist to join in?

Not at all, we encourage everyone to join. If your thing is being a great writer then that's just as good as being a great artist!

Can I use the application from this club for another?

Absolutely not. All applications, memes, and bases created for this club are for this club ONLY. If it is found that you're using them for another club, it will make us very unhappy. :C

I cannot find my character in the Character Gallery, where are they?

If you failed the activity check on the 28/2/2018 you will have been removed from the group.

The dorm has not been updated and I want to choose who to share with!

Send a comment on the image and we shall do what we can to accommodate requests. You can only dorm share with someone of the same gender as you. (this is based on what your character identifies as.)

I have a question! Should I start noting mods?

Please do not note the personal accounts of any of the moderators as they do other things outside of the club. If you have any questions, please note the club orjoin the discord where we have a section purely for questions!

Can I be a mod?

When new mods are required, we shall put out applications. Active members who take an interest in the group are more likely to be chosen to assist so if you want to be a mod, that's a great place to start.

What happened to the Great Fairy Blessings?

This has been merged with the missions.

I have an awesome idea for something! Can I do it?

Share it with the mods and we can see if it is viable. If you have a great idea for a mini mission share that with us too!

I have a problem with another member.

Note the group and we will help out.

I have a problem with a moderator.

If you are not comfortable noting the group then contact the founder privately so they can deal with it.

Can I affiliate?

Of course, as long as your group is RP or Zelda related!

Where do I submit my art?

Missions go into the relevant Missions folder and this will be explained in the mission Journal.

Mini Events go into the relevant Mini Event Folder and this will be explained in the mini event Journal

Side Quests and Mission requests go into the  Side Quest folder.

Extra Art and fun group related art will go into the Extra Art Folder
